Sedan Advances to Second Round

 

Sedan quarterback Eli Campbell scampered for five touchdowns as the Blue Devils punched their ticket to the next round of the high school football playoffs, defeating the Oxford Wildcats 58-6 on Thursday.

 

Sedan would strike paydirt early in the first quarter, with Campbell finding Keaton Dickens all alone in the endzone for a quick score. The Blue Devils (9-0) would lead the rest of the way, although Oxford would return the favor the very next drive with a 17-yard pass from quarterback Kyan Morris to receiver Peyton Rush.

 

It would be three more rushing touchdowns for Sedan before the end of the first quarter, as Campbell would find the endzone twice more from 9 and 4-yards out himself. Eathan Long picked up the other, a 1-yard dive at the goal line to end the quarter at 30-6.

 

The second quarter belonged to Sedan as well. Dameion Hatten would score his first and only touchdown early on on a 7-yard run. From there, Campbell would add the final three Blue Devil touchdowns, runs from 36, 30, and 9 yards out to end the game at haftime with a final score of 58-6.

 

Sedan will move on to the second round of the playoffs and face Chase County. The #2-seeded Bulldogs defeated Cedar-Vale Dexter 66-0 in other action on Thursday.
