2020 High School Girls' Golf Regionals

 

Regional golf in southeast Kansas kicked off yesterday. Chanute won the 4A regional in Independence with a team score of 409. They qualify for state alongside Anderson County and Circle High School. Independence finished 6th and failed to qualify, however, Mattily Brumley qualified for state individually with a score of 109.

 

Fort Scott's Karlie Chipman won with an individual score of 85, beating out Jerlyn Kustanborter of Chanute by one stroke.

 

As for the 3-2-1A regional in Caney, St. Mary's Colgan finished first with a score of 380. Caney Valley and Cheney also qualified for state with scores of 402 and 418, respectively. Ali Scripsick of St. Mary's Colgan finished first individually with a score of 89. Ava Freisberg from Caney Valley finished second with a 92, and other Bullpups Emma Hockett and Saige Scott also finished in the top 10.

 

The class 4A state tournament will be held at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course on October 19th and 20th, and the 3-2-1A state tournament will be at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney on the 19th and 20th as well.
