Pittsburg Wins Independence Invitational

 

Pittsburg's women's golf team dominated Monday at the Independence Invitational with a score of 388 with their top two both breaking 90 and finishing in the top three, individually.

 

Caney Valley finished second with a score of 421, Chanute was just behind them at 427, Independence finished fourth with 452, and one stroke behind them was Frontenac.

 

Karlie Chipman of Fort Scott won the tiebreaker against Pittsburg's Samantha Maceli with a score of 80, and Hannah Holloman, also of Pittsburg, finished third with 88.

 

Chipman had a great round and played significantly better than her average score which is now at 89.4 strokes per 18 holes. She finished 4th in the 2020 Final All-SEK rankings behind Maceli who is at 77.4 strokes, Hannah Holloman and Jerlyn Kustenborter of Chanute who tied for second at 87.6 strokes per 18 holes.
