Kaminska Taking the Mound in Tulsa This Summer

An area baseball star has found a way to get some reps in during a very strange summer. Caney Valley-grad Jace Kaminska is pitching for the Tulsa Sandlot squad that is playing split summer in both Tulsa and Springdale, Arkansas. The Wichita State commit had his initial summer plan canceled as he was slated to pitch in the Kansas Collegiate Baseball League. The Perfect Timing League as it is called features a compilation of college and future college players. Kaminska got on the mound for a stint of 2 2/3 innings earlier this week. The right-hander struck out two and didn’t allow a run.

With this week’s MLB draft reduced from 40 to five rounds it is unlikely that Kaminska will be selected when it could have been possible in a conventional year. He will instead join a solid Wichita State baseball program with a history of turning out of professional players. A recent example was Owasso’s Brian Flynn, a former Shocker that pitched for the Kansas City Royals for four years.
