Friess Steps Down As Parsons Head Football Coach

Parsons head football coach Kurt Friess is stepping down from his position immediately.

Friess announced on Twitter that he was stepping down due to the uncertain nature of the upcoming school year. He currently serves as the principal at Guthridge Elementary along with his duties as the head football coach.

Friess said he believed the program would be better served with a head coach that could would have the time and energy that the program deserves. In his letter to the community, Friess thanked the USD 503 Board of Education, PHS Principal Eric Swanson and athletic director Rob Barcus for giving him the opportunity. He also thanked the community and the students who have played under him for the past few seasons.

Friess was hired in 2018, stepping down a little over two years after taking the position and finished with a record of 10-10 over two seasons. Under his guidance, the Vikings won their first playoff game in 42 years.
