Chiefs Select RB with 1st Round Pick in NFL Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday night by selecting LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the 32nd pick.

There was plenty of speculation leading up to draft night that Kansas City could trade out of the first round considering the limited number of picks the Chiefs had going into this draft.

The 5'7 junior for the defending national champion LSU Tigers rushed for over 1,400 yards with 17 total touchdowns. He also ran for 110 yards on 16 carries in the national title game against Clemson.

Many thought the Chiefs would go defense with their first pick but they decided to add another weapon in the backfield for Super Bowl MVP QB Patrick Mahomes.

Edwards-Helaire piled 438 career touches at LSU with only one fumble.

The Chiefs have four remaining picks:

Round 2 (63)

Round 3 (96)

Round 4 (138)

Round 5 (177)

The 2020 NFL Draft continues on Friday and Saturday.
