The Caney Valley Bullpups basketball season came to an end on Thursday night with a 69-59 loss against Wichita Collegiate in Cheney in a Class 3A Sub State Semi-Final game.
The Bullpups close the season with their 10 game winning streak snapped as they finish with an overall record of 16-6. Caney Valley fought throughout the entire game against the #3 ranked team in Class 3A. The game was tied at 15 at the end of the first quarter while Collegiate (19-3) held a 33-29 lead at halftime.
Caney Valley didn't see a lead the rest of the game but stayed close throughout the second half before Collegiate made some clutch shots and free throws down the stretch to hold off a late Bullpups rally.
Trey Richie led the way for Caney Valley with 21 points and 14 rebounds while Jace Kaminska added 13 and Kaehl Smith and DaRon Davis provided 10 points each.
Collegiate was led in scoring by 4-star sophomore recruit Gradey Dick with 24 points and Charlie Goree had 18 points on six made three pointers.
