ICC will send one of its basketball teams to Dodge City after the women fell to Colby 66-63 in overtime, while the men emerged victorious over Seward County 84-74.

The 5th-seeded Pirate women fought hard but were ultimately upset by Colby, who came into the Region VI Division I tournament as the 12-seed. Independence will finish its 2019-2020 campaign with a record of 17-11.

The men came into the tournament as the 7-seed, and led most of the way against Seward County. The Saints could not keep up with Indy's shooting effort, as multiple Pirates crossed the double-digit threshold. The team shot 61 percent in the second half, with Demetric Horton leading the way in a 23-point performance. Terry Collins Jr. added 20 points.

Following last night's games, the Independence men will advance to Dodge City and will have an opportunity for to avenge the women when they take on 2nd-seeded Colby. That contest is set to get underway this Sunday at 7 pm.
