West Elk Defeats Sedan in Wild Contest

The last regular season Game of the Week more than delivered, with West Elk overcoming Sedan 30-26 on Friday.

The first half didn't see much action, with the Patriots leading 14-0 over the Blue Devils after picking up a touchdown in each quarter. After the break, the game would get a lot more interesting, with Sedan rattling off three straight touchdowns with an offense revitalized by quarterback Dameion Hatten. With the Blue Devils up 20-14, West Elk would finally get things going again with a 27-yard touchdown run by senior running back Nic Moreno to put the Patriots back on top 22-20.

However, with Sedan facing a 4th and 10 from the 25-yard line and just a couple minutes remaining, replacement quarterback Tayte Halderman threw two consecutive completions to move the score to 26-22. But despite taking the advantage, Sedan would not be able to stop Moreno from making one last 51-yard dash to the endzone to put the dagger into the game at 30-22.

Following the results of Friday's game, both West Elk and Sedan have made the playoffs. Stay tuned for more information about opponents for both teams.
