Cherryvale Claims Victory Over Neodesha

Cherryvale can claim victory over one of their biggest rivals for yet another season, as the Chargers took down Neodesha 49-16 on Friday night.

The game didn't get out of hand until the second quarter, with the Blue Streaks actually leading Cherryvale 14-13 after the first quarter following a last second, 65-yard touchdown run by Toby Curtis. However, mental mistakes would cost Neodesha dearly, giving Cherryvale possesion deep in Neodesha territory. Using that to their advantage, Cherryvale would head into the locker room at the half with a 35-14 lead.

The Chargers would pick up two more touchdowns in the second half, while Neodesha only found points through a botched snap that sent the ball sailing out of the endzone for a safety. With the win, Cherryvale improves to 4-3 on the season and will give the team some momentum into a tough matchup against Eureka. Neodesha falls to 1-6 on the season, and will meet rival Fredonia for their last regular season game.

We'll return to 8-man football for our final regular season Game of the Week, as Sedan hits the road to take on West Elk. Connor Harbit will have the call, as always, on the Mighty 690, KGGF.
