Erie On The Road to Face Fredonia

Compared to where they started, Erie head football coach Eddie Kearns says the team is starting to look a lot better and beginning to feel the positive effects of a new program.

Kearns, who in his first year as the Red Devils head coach, takes over an Erie squad that finished 3-6 last season. The team will open up their 2019 campaign against a familiar opponent in Fredonia, a team that defeated the Red Devils 29-0 in their previous meeting in Erie. With this season's game taking place in Fredonia, Kearns said the he and his team will be ready whether on the road or at home.

Fredonia finished 5-4 last season, and started the year 5-1 before taking a 3-game slide to end the season. Fourth-year head coach Marc Svaty said his team will need more big plays if they want to jump to the next level.

Friday's game won't be broadcast on KGGF, but you can hear Fredonia next week as they play host to the Humboldt Cubs. The Red Devils will be broadcast on September 20 for their game against Cherryvale.
