C.C.C Lady Red Ravens Fall In Season Opener

The Lady Red Ravens got their 2018 season started last night at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville. C.C.C. welcomed in the Redlands Community College Cougars to Jay Herkleman Court to try and start the season on a high note. At the beginning of the game it was a very low scoring, defensive battle as both teams where adjusting through the beginning nerves. Struggling to knock down shots from anywhere on the court the 1st quarter finished with Redlands CC up by two 11 to 9. As the 2nd quarter continued, the offense for the Lady Red Ravens still struggled to gain any traction. Looking for the veteran presence of Tatiana McCree and T’era Fullove to lead the offense, which both individuals finished well. McCree led the Ravens with 15 points and 2 rebounds while Fullove finished with 9 points, 2 assists and 4 rebounds but the rest of the Red Raven offense was absent. Trailing 31 to 19 at half, Coffeyville hoped to get some 2nd half offensive production, but did not receive it as it remained a defensive battle through the remainder of the game. It wasn’t until the final few minutes that the offense started to complete good passes, open shooting lanes and knock down open shots. Redlands, regardless of the young roster looked good through the second half, limiting turnovers, making good passes and forcing Coffeyville to make mistakes. The Lady Red Ravens get beat at home to kick off the 2018 season 61 to 43. They travel on Saturday to Connors State College and will return back home next Tuesday against N.E Oklahoma A&M College. We will broadcast that game on your home for Red Raven Athletics 98.1 KUSN FM tip off at 5:30 PM.
