Red Ravens Football Season Preview

A lot of question marks as we head into the 2018 Coffeyville Community College Red Raven football season. Coming off a disappointing 2017 season where they finished 4-7 and had to change coaches just two games into the season due to health concerns for Head Coach Aaron Flores. After a long off season and a successful lung transplant Coach Flores is back and more ready than ever.

The Red Ravens are picked to finish 7th out of eight teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and have the preseason number two ranked team in Iowa Western as their first game of the season. Another question mark for CCC is who is going to be under center. Five guys took snaps as the quarterback for the Ravens last year four of them are no on the team and the other one has been moved to WR. Coach Flores says a starter hasn't been named but it has been narrowed down to two guys, Reece Shaw and Carson Proctor.

One of the 10 returning players on CCC is Sophomore WR out of Prattsville, Alabama Josh Moore. He says it was good to see Coach Flores come back and healthy and they assistant coaches really stepped up in his absence. Moore also had some high praise for the defense.

Coach Flores says Moore has really stepped into his role as a leader of the team and he looks forward to seeing what kind of season he is going to have. CCC kicks off at 7:00pm against Iowa Western and it's Donor Appreciation Night. Iowa Western Head Coach Scott Strohmeier's mom is the honorary captain and will be doing the coin toss. She had the same lung procedure that Coach Flores had. Join Sam Speck and me Matt Jordan on 98.1 tonight as we'll start the pregame at 6:30 and kick off at 7:00.
