A new event is coming to the Independence Veterans' Day of Honor tomorrow.
A full day of events for the Independence Veterans Day celebration continues tomorrow evening with a new event honoring veterans through live music and community fellowship.
The first annual Veterans Day Street Dance will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at VFW Post 1186 at 113 East Myrtle Street.
The dance will feature live music from Straight Away Live and is being billed as an evening of music, community and patriotic pride. Organizers invite veterans, families and residents to come out and enjoy the celebration.
The street dance is the finale of Independence’s 10th annual Veterans Day of Honor, which begins Saturday morning with a veterans appreciation breakfast from 7 to 10 at the V-F-W.
The day also includes a tribute at Veterans Freedom Square, a Fallen Soldier Cross presentation, the Veterans Honor Walk, a patriotic rock hunt, a military exhibit, a free hot dog lunch, Heroes and Hot Rods, and the downtown Veterans Day parade at 2 p.m.
The Veterans Day Street Dance runs from 4 to 8 Saturday evening. The outdoor event will move inside if weather requires.
