It's November and that means that the deer are on the move.
It's breeding season for deer and that increases the likelihood of car-deer collisions. Coffeyville Police Officer Tyler Hagebusch says the next few weeks are the peak of the season.
If you do hit a deer, pull over safely to the side of the road and turn on emergency flashers. Stay in your vehicle and report the accident. Deer are most active at dawn and dusk, so drivers should use extra caution during those times, while remaining alert for deer at the roadside. Shawn Steward with Triple-A Kansas says you should also buckle up.
Remember that deer also travel in groups, so if you see one crossing the road, there are likely more to follow.
