Montgomery Co. Continues Search for Evidence in Sycamore Shooting Death

The investigation into the weekend shooting death of an Independence man continues in Montgomery County.

40-year-old Devin Windsor died Sunday morning after he was shot while attending a large party in the area of County Roads 6200 and 3950 north of Sycamore on Halloween night. An 18-year-old Coffeyville man has been arrested on second-degree murder charges in the case.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are still in the process of gathering evidence in the case. Authorities asking anyone who attended the party and took photographs, Snapchat videos, cell phone recordings, or any other type of video to submit them to investigators. Even photos or videos that did not capture the actual shooting, could still be useful in the investigation.

Media can be submitted via this link.

Authorities are also still looking for the 9mm handgun that was used in the shooting. Police believe it may have been discarded along a roadway, in a ditch, in a trash can, or on private property and ask that citizens be on the look out for the weapon. Anyone who locates such a firearm should not touch or move it and should contact law enforcement immediately.
