Wichita Man Injured in Wilson Co. Crash

A head-on collision involving a Jeep and a semi-truck in Wilson County sends a 20-year-old Wichita man to the hospital.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 12:30pm Tuesday along U-S 400, about four miles west of K-47, near Fredonia.

Investigators say a westbound 2016 Jeep Patriot driven by 20-year-old Malcolm Duckworth crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2027 Peterbilt semi head-on. Following the collision, the Jeep entered the northeast ditch and came to rest on its passenger side.

Duckworth was transported to Fredonia Regional Hospital with suspected serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. The semi's driver, 65-year-old Scott Tully, also of Wichita, was not reported injured. He was also wearing a seat belt.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
