Authorities are asking for help locating a handgun connected to Sunday’s shooting north of Sycamore.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says investigators have information indicating the suspect discarded the nine-millimeter handgun after the shooting. The Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate. Residents in Montgomery County and surrounding areas are asked to report any discarded firearm found along a roadway, in a ditch, in a trash can or in another unusual location.
Anyone who finds a gun should keep a safe distance and prevent others from approaching it. Do not touch, move or attempt to unload it. Investigators are withholding further details about the handgun to protect evidence. Anyone with information should contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division or local law enforcement.
