Independence is getting ready to honor the men and women who have served our country with a day of food, fellowship, and community appreciation.
The 10th Annual Veterans Day of Honor is set for this Saturday, November 7th, and VFW Post 1186 is invites the entire community to take part in two special events.
The day will begin with a Veterans Appreciation Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. featuring biscuits and gravy. It's an opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors, enjoy a warm breakfast, and show gratitude to the veterans who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation.
Then, the celebration continues with a free community lunch from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome, so residents are encouraged to bring their families, friends, and neighbors and enjoy a meal together while recognizing the brave men and women who have worn our nation's uniform.
Both the breakfast and lunch will be held at VFW Post 1186, located at 113 East Myrtle Street in Independence.
Organizers say the events are about more than just sharing a meal. They're a chance for the community to come together, recognize the service and dedication of local veterans, and let those who have served know their contributions are remembered and appreciated.
Both events happen this Saturday, November 7th, at VFW Post 1186.
