Montgomery County is inviting residents, families, schools, and community organizations to help decorate the courthouse Christmas tree with ornaments celebrating local history, landmarks, traditions, and community pride.

Ornaments should measure between six and nine-and-a-half inches, weigh no more than eight ounces, and include a secure hanging loop. Acceptable materials include wood, clay, fabric, metal, and other durable materials. Glass, glitter, political messages, and perishable items are not permitted. Ornaments can be dropped off at the Montgomery County Courthouse Administration Office on the second floor, at 217 East Myrtle Street in Independence.

The ornaments will become part of a lasting holiday tradition, celebrating what makes Montgomery County special for years to come.
