One person is dead and another is seriously injured in a head-on collision in Allen County.

The accident occurred around 6:45am on Friday morning on US-169 about 7 miles south of the City of Iola.

A 15-year-old male from Beloit was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup truck northbound along the highway when his vehicle went left-of-center for an unknown reason. There, the vehicle collided head-on with a 2006 Toyota Highlander driven by 66-year-old Sherry McDown of Iola.

McDown was killed in the accident while 15-year-old boy was seriously injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
