Coffeyville is being asked to narrow its data center proposals as another company joins the discussion.
City Manager Ben Brubaker tells city commissioners GRDA recommends choosing one developer for a power availability study. The city had considered combining information from several proposals. Brubaker says GRDA warns against that approach. Six groups have each contributed $20,000 toward the study. Meanwhile, Phoenix Logistics is discussing a data center on its property near the Southwire building. Brubaker says Phoenix brings an existing business relationship to the discussion.
Phoenix is discussing an initial eight-megawatt project. Brubaker says that falls below the 10 megawatt threshold requiring a study. The company also discusses eventually expanding to 36 megawatts. Brubaker has requested a written proposal from Phoenix. The city expects to narrow the field for the study around the middle of November. He says the study funding agreements do not commit the city to a development.
