The City of Independence continues its efforts to bring affordable housing to the City.

Director of the Independence housing Authority April Nutt says there are 14 homes in the Jefferson Subdivision that have certificates of occupancy.

Nutt says the Housing Authority has recently had some interest in moderate to high end rental units.

Nutt also announced that the developer that had planned to construct apartments in the Professional Building at 201 North Penn has withdrawn from that project.
