The victim of a Sunday morning house fire in Columbus passes away from her injuries.

 

According to the Columbus Fire Department, the family of the 71-year-old female says she has succumbed to her injuries.

 

Columbus firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire with a victim still inside the residence around 6am on Sunday morning.

 

Emergency crews arrived on scene within five minutes of receiving the 9-1-1 call and proceeded to locate and remove the victim from the structure.

 

Cherokee County Ems provided emergency treatment before the patient was transported to a hospital via helicopter for medical treatment.

 

The victim's name has not yet been released and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
