Leadership at South Coffeyville Public Schools are looking at the possibility of starting a building trades program.
At Monday's school board meeting, board members discussed the potential of starting the program. Superintendent Daryl Pruter says the main goal would be to get the program off the ground and make it financially self-supporting.
Pruter says they have an individual who is interested in teaching the class.
Pruter says ideally, the money made from sale a house or remodeling project built by the students would pay for the instructor. Nothing has been decided yet as the board continues to explore the feasibility of the program. Pruter says similar programs have been started in area communities including Neodesha and Altamont.
