Two people are seriously injured in a Saturday crash in Allen County.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on US- 54, just east of the City of Piqua.

The Woodson County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call around noon on Saturday. Responders found both vehicles in the ditch, with two occupants trapped inside. Crews used the Jaws of Life to free them. Both suffered significant injuries and were flown by air ambulance to regional trauma centers. A third person was able to get out of their vehicle before emergency crews arrived and was walking at the scene with apparently minor injuries.

Highway 54 was closed for about three hours to protect emergency responders and allow aircraft to land.

The cause of the crash has not been released.
