The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in southeast Kansas.
KDOT has approved two projects: One in Cherokee County and another in Labette County. The Cherokee County project will involve pavement restoration on US-69-Alternate between 20th and 23rd Streets in Baxter Springs. The $1.9 million project was awarded to Heck & Wicker Inc. of Parsons.

In Labette County, KDOT approved a project to install pedestrian and bicycle paths in the City of Altamont for one mile along 5th Street. The $580,000 project went to J. Graham construction of Coffeyville.
