Washington County's burn ban has been lifted effective immediately.
The burn ban has been in place since September 8th. Emergency Management Director Kary Cox says there are precautions that citizens should keep in mind. The National Weather Service is forecasting several rounds of rain towards the middle of the week, with totals of three to five inches possible across eastern Oklahoma.
Sheriff Scott Owen says his deputies issued citations for burn ban violations and several warnings were issued while the ban was in effect. He says there are still liabilities to consider should a fire get out of control. The burn ban in Nowata County was lifted by the Nowata County Commission.
