Crews respond to an early-morning structure fire in Nowata.

According to the Nowata Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of South Pecan shortly before 1 this morning.

Upon arrival, crews found an abandoned residential structure fully involved in fire. Firefighters immediately initiated fire attack operations while providing exposure protection to neighboring residences.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly and confine the fire to the original structure, preventing damage to the surrounding homes. A search of the residence confirmed that no occupants were inside.

A total of 25 personnel responded to the incident, including crews from Lenapah, Chelsea, the Northwest Fire District as well as Nowata EMS and Police.
