The Independence City Commission approves a grant to improve a downtown building.

 

A Thursday's meeting, commissioners approved a $7,600 Downtown Independence Building Grant for the Community National Bank to help repair the stucco on the building of the bank's drive-thru on Penn Avenue. Bank representative Jim Kelly says the project will also include some work to the mural on the side of the building.

The total cost of the project is just over $75,000. Kelly says there will also be an addition to the ATM lane near the building.

 

The CNB drive-thru was built in 1979 and stands across the street from the historic main bank building that was built in 1916.
