A fugitive who has been on the run in Cherokee County is back in police custody.

 

28-year-old Terron Allen of Baxter Springs was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon, September 24, around 3pm. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies were called to a location in a rural part of the county following the report of a suspicious person. Allen was located on the scene and placed under arrest without incident.

 

Allen had been on the run since he escaped from custody on Monday night during transport near Columbus. Cherokee County deputies were bringing Allen back to Kansas from Alabama to face a charge of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy when the escape occurred. Allen now faces additional charges of Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Escape from Custody.

 

He is being held in the Cherokee County Jail in Columbus.
