Copan schools are briefly locked down following a report of a weapon on campus.

On Monday, during an investigation into a marijuana vape, a student admitted to having a gun in their vehicle. The student told authorities that the weapon had been left in the vehicle from the weekend. No threats were made and students were not in danger. The weapon was removed by Washington County Sheriff's deputies and the lockdown was lifted.

School officials say the student involved will not be on campus for the remainder of the school year.
