Washington County’s bun ban will continue for another 14 days.

The County Commissioners voted to extend the ban as drought conditions continue, particularly on the northern half of Washington County. Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox says he recommends extending the ban.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the northern half of the county is experiencing severe drought, which is the lowest level where a burn ban can be enacted. The southern half of Washington County is in a moderate drought area. The commissioners will revisit the burn ban next week.
