A band teacher at Labette County High School in Altamont earns a regional award for excellence.

 

Megan Gabehart has been named the Southeast Kansas District Outstanding Music Educator at the high school level. She serves as the band teacher at Labette County High School and Meadow View Grade School.

 

In order to be eligible for the award, a teacher must have taught for 8 to 10 years, be a member in good standing of the Kansas Music Educators Association and direct a music program that demonstrates consistency or shows notable improvement over time.

 

Gabehart will now represent the Southeast Kansas District at the state level, where her nomination will compete for the state award.
