Another tax sale is on the way in Montgomery County.
The county's annual tax sale date has been set for Tuesday, October 6th in Memorial Hall in Independence. The doors will open at 7:30 and the auction will begin at 9:30.
A new bidder preregistration process will be available this year, beginning Monday, September 14th at the Montgomery County Treasurer's Office in Independence. To preregister, prospective bidders must bring a valid driver's license and will be check for delinquent taxes prior to the auction.
Individuals who do not preregister should plan to arrive early on October 6th to complete registration before the auction begins.
Payment accepted at the tax sale includes cash, cashier's check and personal checks with a letter of credit from a financial institution, dated no more than one day before the sale. Buyers are also responsible for a $21 recording fee for each parcel purchased.
The tax list will be published in the Independence Reporter on Saturday September 5th, 12th and 19th.
