Four people are injured, including an Independence woman, in a four-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Tonganoxie in Leavenworth County. Around 1:30 yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, several eastbound vehicles were stopped due to traffic ahead when a 2010 Chevy Malibu driven by 19-year-old Jaden Ramirez of Shawnee collided with a 2015 GMC Acadia. The impact caused the Acadia to hit a third vehicle, which then collided with the fourth car.
A passenger in the Acadia 68-year-old Linda Taliaferro of Lubbock, Texas, suffered fatal injuries while the driver 68-year David Taliaferro was seriously injured. Ramirez sustained minor injuries as did 26-year-old Sina Sanford of Independence.
The driver of the fourth vehicle was uninjured.
