First responders within Nowata County are still experiencing issues with their new radio system in connecting to towers throughout the county.

During last week's meeting, the commission and various fire chiefs throughout the county discussed the potential cause for the signal issues between the radios and the transmission towers. This week the conversation continued, shifting towards old radios being able to connect to towers in the county where the new radios are unable to connect. In some cases, the radios are able to establish a connection with a tower outside of the town the individual is in, but can't make a connection with the tower in the town they are in.

District Three Commissioner Troy Friddle and Nowata Fire Department Assistant Chief Brian Hewitt discuss the issue.  Various chiefs within the county have appeared before the board and discussed issues with connecting to radio towers throughout the county over the past year.
