Local firefighters respond to an afternoon structure fire near Dearing on Saturday.

 

The initial call came in just after noon as Coffeyville Fire, CRMC EMS, and Dearing Fire responded to a structure and vehicle fire about four miles northeast of Dearing. As crews arrived on the scene, the flames began to spread to the surrounding grass as well as to some nearby hay bales. The fire was eventually brought under control and extinguished.

 

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Independence, South Coffeyville, Liberty, and Tyro, as well as from Coffeyville Resources Fire and Independence Rural Fire. No injuries were reported.

 

Dearing Fire was called back to the scene on Sunday after the hay bales rekindled.
