The City of Coffeyville asks Montgomery County for support as they pursue a grant through the Kansas Water Office.
Coffeyville City Manager Ben Brubaker was at this week's Montgomery County Commission meeting to request support. The purpose of the grant would be to help pay for the levee study by the U.S. Corps of Engineers to conduct a study on the Verdigris River levee to help prevent future flooding. Brubaker says the Water Office grant would cover about $1 million of the projected $3 million project.
Brubaker says the study will help increase protection against flooding.
The Coffeyville City Commission will vote on whether or not to approve an application for the Water Office grant at the Auguts 25 meeting.
