City of Iola Begins Free Chlorine Burn of Water System

The City of Iola begins a free chlorine burn of its water distribution system.

The annual disinfection of the City's water system began this week. The burnout consists of turning off the ammonia usually used in the system and increasing the the chlorine feed in order to maintain more uniform disinfection in the water system. The process will take three to four weeks to complete. During this time, customers may notice a strong taste or odor in Iola's City water. This is a normal part of the process and the water remains safe to drink.
