A Kansas man is dead following a weekend drowning incident in southwest Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old man from Wakarusa, Kansas, was on the Elk River near the Missouri 59 Bridge in Noel on Saturday evening. Witnesses say the man swam into the deep part of the river, where he went under and did not resurface. Recovery teams found the man's body on Sunday. The man's name has not been released.
This is the third victim to drown in the Elk River in the Noel area since June.
