A convicted sex offender is found dead in his cell at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
L-C-F staff discovered 80-year-old Larry James Gregg unresponsive in his cell on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Despite live-saving measures, staff was unable to revive him and he was pronounced deceased.
Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.
Gregg was serving a life sentence for convictions of four counts of rape and four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child in Saline County in 2012.
