Six people, including four children, in Winfield are dead following what police say is a murder/suicide.
According to the Winfield Police Department, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call just before 9am on the morning of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 53-year-old Ronald Williams Sr. of Winfield. Williams told dispatchers that he had killed his family and intended to kill himself. Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong says when they arrived on scene, they heard a single gunshot.
The victims have been identified as 44-year-old Kelly George, 9-year-old Carol Williams, 7-year-old Ronald Williams Jr, 5-year-old Sarah Williams, and 3-year-old Kelly Magee-Williams. Investigators believe Williams killed the five victims before placing the emergency call and then took his own life.
Local authorities have called in agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to assist on the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
