The City of Nowata appoints a Nowata native as its new city manager.

Marie Gorley grew up in Nowata and graduated from Nowata High School in 2006. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rogers State University. Gorley previously worked as the bursar at RSU before moving into corporate finance. She most recently spent six years as a senior accounting analyst with Phillips 66. Gorley says she is honored to serve the community that shaped her and looks forward to working with city employees, elected officials, businesses and residents.

Mayor Garry Gibson says Gorley has already helped improve communication and internal operations since joining the city in June. As city manager, Gorley will oversee Nowata’s day-to-day operations and work with the City Council to carry out its priorities.
