The Nowata Police Department reminds city residents it is a violation of city ordinance to dispose of grass clippings on city streets.

N-P-D issued a statement on July 29 in response to recent complaints received by the City regarding grass clippings in local streets and roadways. Nowata Police Chief Mike McElhaney reminds residents that it is unlawful to throw, place or deposit any rubbish, trash, grass, brush or any other waste matter in any city street or ditch.

Violators may be subject to a citation and a fine.
