A Kansas highway worker is killed after being struck by a vehicle on I-135 near Salina.
The accident happened just before 10 Tuesday morning as 35-year-old Robert Moore of Coweta, Oklahoma, was northbound on I-135. His Dodge Ram 3500 left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck another vehicle that was legally parked on the shoulder. This caused the truck to enter a broadside skid and strike a guardrail. As the truck began to overturn, it struck five highway workers who were at work in the grassy area east of the guardrail.
The impact killed 55-year-old Toby Marco of Abilene and injured 23-year-old Kaden Hill of Sedgwick and 23-year-old Carson Arndt of Wichita. Both of the injured men were taken to a Wichita hospital with minor injuries.
Moore, the driver of the truck, was transported to a Salina hospital with serious injuries.
