Steers exhibited during this year's Labette County Fair will be evaluated during the Steer Carcass Contest on Friday, July 31, at 6 p.m. at the Oswego Locker.

Unlike the live judging at the fair, the carcass contest evaluates the steers after processing, with judges scoring factors such as carcass weight, marbling, yield, and overall meat quality. The contest gives 4-H and FFA exhibitors valuable feedback on the quality and market value of the cattle they've raised.

The event highlights the importance of producing high-quality beef while recognizing the hard work and dedication exhibitors put into their market steer projects.
