Two people are killed in two separate crashes in western Kansas on Friday.
The first fatal accident occurred in the early morning hours on US-281 just west of the City of Medicine Lodge. Around 2:15am 22-year-old Aiden Guy of Hardtner, Kansas, failed to stop at a stop sign at the junction of US-160. Guy continued across 160 in his Super Duty F-350 truck onto private property where he struck a trailer that was legally parked. Guy was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries.
The second fatal accident occurred around 9:45 on Friday morning on US-50 near the Colorado border. 75-year-old Robert Arellano of Garden City was fatally injured when his 2010 Nissan Frontier crossed the center line of the highway and side-swiped an oncoming vehicle. The Frontier then struck the guardrail before coming to rest. Arellano was pronounced deceased at the scene. No one in the other vehicle was injured.
