Residents in Independence will see their trash pick up move to earlier in the day next week due to the expected hot weather.

High temperatures next week are forecast to be in the triple digits. In order to keep sanitation workers safe during the hot weather, trash collection for the City of Independence will begin at 4am beginning on Monday. Customers are asked to have their carts at the curb by setting them out the night before their usual collection day.

The early pick up time will continue until the hot weather breaks.
