Wilson County Rural firefighters respond to several grass fires west of Fredonia.

 

On Wednesday afternoon around 3:45pm, Wilson County Rural Fire responded to reports of several small spot fires along Decatur Road, just north of 1100 Road, or about 4 miles west of the City of Fredonia. Firefighters worked for approximately 30 minutes to extinguish all of the small fires along the roadway.

 

Wilson County Rural Fire reminds residents that the recent hot weather has dried the brush and grass along the roadside, increasing the risk of accidental fire. Drivers should be mindful and avoid throwing cigarettes out of the window and avoid dragging chains or tie-downs from vehicles as those things may spark fires.
